Report from Pierfishing.com:
My dad called me up today and wanted to try for some lobsters... We hit the pier from 7:30pm to 10pm and didn't catch any bugs, but instead landed a nice sized octopus. These things are really amazing, just slithering around with their tentacles and all gelatinous looking... Awesome.
Several poachers are still around... one was even greeted by name by some Harbor Patrol guys passing by--LOL.
On a side note, I asked some local police officers in the area about whether they had jurisdiction with fish and game regulations. They said yes, but admitted it wasn't their area of expertise. I asked them about Harbor Patrol and they said Harbor Patrol couldn't write tickets, but that they could call police officers for assistance. So why doesn't DFG work more closely with local law enforcement? Couldn't one DFG warden be assisted by multiple officers to help alleviate the lack of manpower?
Cool looking octopus
