Hermosa Pier, Hermosa Beach

Report from Pierfishing.com:

My daughter and I met Tim over at Hermosa today around 10ish. He was there early making bait and had already caught a couple macs. He graciously shared his spot, his bait, and his lunch money--LOL. In return, I denied him possibly his first halibut of the year--a 14"er caught on an anchovy while he was away getting lunch for us. Sorry Tim! ;) The guy next to us snagged a nice sized rock crab whose claws looked like they could put some serious hurt on yer fingers. Things got exciting when Tim's rod went bendo, but it turned out he had snagged a sea lion in the tail. With patience and some gentle pulling, the leader finally broke off. Also got a shot of the world's smallest crab... Beautiful day in Southern California.

Redondo Beach

Report from Baytuber.com:

Nice to see everyone out there today. I was pretty jealous of Kevin's new ride as soon as he hit the water... He was cruising out there. Since you guys didn't post any pics, I guess I'll post my dinks for your viewing pleasure.

Launched at 7:30am in overcast weather. Started about 100 yds from the pier, made my way towards the small jetty, headed out to the canyon, then back to the King Harbor jetty. Used dropper loops and swimbaits with squid strips.

Redondo Special going out--looks like a packed boat...

...and the view back towards Redondo Pier

White croaker with distended bladder

Just over 12 in.

Picked up a bunch of sand dabs just off the canyon

Managed a barred sand bass near the main jetty

Cherry Beach, Long Beach and Redondo Pier, Redondo Beach

Report from Baytubers.com:

I got skunked but my consolation prize was getting to meet everyone. Congrats to Erik on the winning fish, no less from a tube (way to show us all up!) Next time, let's pick a launch location next to a working restroom--lol.

and report from Pierfishing.com:

Met up with Hashem (mahigeer) at Redondo Pier around 8pm. It started out slow for us until a school of macs came through. I saw a couple guys catch a nice sized calico (maybe 14") and a couple small whitefish. Another guy was struttin' around with a 30+" leopard shark, but we didn't think he caught it from the pier (maybe shore or boat?) There were plenty of snaggers still around--makes me angry every time I see them. Ironically, I overheard one of 'em talking to a tourist explaining how the bug season ended Wednesday so he was just trying to catch as many as he could by then. O.o Hashem was always striking up conversations with the tourists, answering all their questions and teaching them something new. He's good like that.
